Through the artifacts of vacant Midwestern homestead culture the artist traced the movements of emigrant Europeans to the Midwest at the turn of the century. In Manifest the artist has attempted to make visual the emptied appearance of the modern Midwestern Landscape juxtaposed against the period optimism expressed by the John Gast painting called Progress.
